Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Kebuhate, Fuhai County, Xinjiang. It was named by Zhang Yuqian et al. in 1977.


Lithology and Thickness

Volcanic Tuff and Siltstone. A suite of metamorphic rock strata outcropping as fault blocks, dominated by schistose metamorphosed tuff, sericitized siltstone and schistose two-mica siltstone. Exposed thickness 696−933.7 m.

Around Fuyun, the degree of metamorphism turns from low to high, resulting in various schists, gneisses and migmatites, reaching 2266 m at maximum.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Qiaqihai Fm

Upper contact

Conformable contact with the overlying stratum (lower Permian Harjiawau Fm is next younger unit in this general area)

Regional extent

The group is distributed along Xibodu to Fuyun on the south slope of the Altay Mts.
